Platypus Governance Process

At Platypus, we value community input and participation in our governance process. To help you navigate this process more easily, we have outlined the platforms involved and the steps required to submit a proposal.

Platforms involved:

Discourse forum: https://gov.platypus.finance

Here you can engage in discussions and share your ideas with the community. New members are required to read at least 30 posts, spend 10 minutes reading, and participate in at least 5 topics before being permitted to post themselves.

Snapshot: Snapshot

Snapshot allows for off-chain voting, weighted by the number of vePTP. Only the Platypus team can submit a proposal on Snapshot. If your proposal passes Temperature Check, please contact the Platypus team to create a Snapshot poll for you by mentioning @admins in your post reply.

Flow of the governance process:

Step 1: Temperature Check

This step determines community support for your suggestion or idea. Here’s are the steps:

  • Post a general proposal in the Idea category on Discourse regarding a potential change. Here is an example: “Should Platypus Finance adjust the monthly emission?”

  • The title of your forum post should be “Temperature Check - [Your Title Here].”

  • Follow the proposal structure as stated in the Proposal Structure document.

  • Community members can express their interest in the forum post by replying and voting to your post.

How to create a poll:

If the discussion receives a minimum of 15 votes during the seven-day discussion period, it is considered to have passed the Temperature Check.

If the Temperature Check does not indicate a need for change, the admins/moderators will close the topic. If it does suggest a potential change, the process proceeds to Step 2.

Step 2: Consensus Check

This step involves a formal discussion on the proposal. Here’s how to perform a consensus check:

  • Adjust your proposal based on feedback from the Temperature Check. Create a new Discourse topic titled “PIP #(order of your proposal) — [Your Title Here]” in the Consensus Check category to notify the community that your proposal passed the Temperature Check. Link the discussion thread to the Temperature Check thread, and admins/moderators will remove any topics not meeting the Temperature Check.

  • Contact the admin to create a new Snapshot poll for your proposal. It is important to provide the following information in your post reply: The Proposal content, Relevant links, Temperature Check thread and Consensus Check thread.

  • The Snapshot vote will last for seven days. Make sure you have added the snapshot poll URL to your Consensus Check thread.

  • Respond to questions on the Consensus Check topic while remaining impartial.

  • At the end of the voting day, the option with the majority of votes wins and is considered to have passed the proposal. For the Consensus Check to pass, it needs more than 50% yes-vote and a 30M vePTP yes-vote quorum. After passing the consensus test, a one-day timelock will be put in place before executing the proposal.
